a day in the life

A little run down of what our days look like :)

Typically our day begins between 6:30-7. Sometimes shes a total doll and will sleep till 8, but not too often. I wake up to her babbling away in her crib...I go to get her & smoother that smiling face with kisses. Then change her diaper & play till she starts asking for breakfast, if I give it to her before she asks she most likely will not even touch it.

Her typical breakfast looks something like this...avocado is always a must. Sometimes I get to quickly eat something myself when she eats, but when shes done eating she won't sit in the high chair for even 5 minutes unless I play her a video.

Usually miss bed head gets messy during breakfast so we do bath time in the morning, she seems to prefer it early instead of before bed when shes tired and uninterested in splashing around.

She loves bathtime with her baby, she takes the washcloth & washes her, hugs & kisses. After the bath she gets dressed & plays while I get dressed out of my pjs. She gets a bottle and goes down for a nap.

While she naps, I clean up after breakfast & clean up in general...eat if I haven't eaten yet and start preparing lunch. This is also when I blog :) depending how long the naps is.

She usually wakes up starvingggggg so we go right downstairs to get her fed. Like her mama, she loves soups...so I usually whip one up while she naps and have it ready for her when she wakes up...of course, avocado is a must again.

After lunch we play outside while we still can. She waters our veggie garden and runs around chasing bubbles or our neighbors cat who visits us...it makes her day when he comes!

Highlight of our day: Daddy coming home
.she runs to him & gives him hugs!

After Daddy changes & settles in...him & Sienna goof off a bit & we always go for a family walk to the mail box and park. This is the highlight of Charlies day...we let him loose in the park while Sienna plays.

After the walk...one of us or both make dinner while Sienna plays or watches a video in her high chair. Shes usually getting into the pantry or dishwasher ha..who needs toys? What time she goes down for the night depends on whether or not Sienna had 2 naps or 1. After we eat, she plays a bit...we read books & Daddy puts her down for the night and we do it all over again the next day!

Thats pretty much how it goes :)

Sienna's 1st haircut...or trim rather

I've been going back and forth on whether or not I should trim Sienna's hair. Hubs made it very clear that he did not approve of the idea and I should just leave it alone...but leaving it alone meant letting it turn into a wild baby mullet.

So today I decided to trim it...myself. Just a teeny tiny bit to make it even....I didn't tell Danny till after the fact, though I'm not sure he would have even noticed (men are oblivious).

****

How did I do it? while she was in the tub,
I gave her a toy to keep her sitting still...I only needed about 30 seconds for the back. The front was harder with the fear of her moving....that I did with a youtube video of a cat jumping around...she was mesmerized and perfectly still :)

eeep! I love how it flips out by it self.
Her next cut we'll take her to a salon but I'm sure it won't be for a long time till she needs another cut.

what would you do if...

Your child's picture went viral all over the internet?
creeped out? flattered? mad? baffled?

because I was all of those things.

About a month or two ago someone brought to my attention that Sienna's picture was popping up on their fb from on of those dumb "like" facebook pages. It was titled
"like this if you think she's cute"  two hours later she had 96K likes...

Mind boggling.

I spent that evening reading each one of those comments and to some relief none were creepy or alarming. I thought about watermarking my photos but 1. its time consuming to do every picture you post 2. its easily removable in photoshop, so if someone really wanted a picture they would have no problem taking out the watermark. So what did I do? for a second I had the urge to delete my social media pages but then I realized...it would make no difference at this point, my pages are private except the blog and I'm not quite sure where the photo was taken from and I just figured it was that one page and they would move onto another picture ending the hype.

well I figured wrong

It wasn't just that one page,
it was hundreds of pages.

Everyday since then I have someone letting me know they saw her picture somewhere... pintrest, twitter, instagram pages, more facebook 'like' pages, you name it.

Travel Plans 2013

I sure hope Sienna likes to travel as much as her mom & dad because we have a busy few months ahead of us, well what I really should say is I hope she BEHAVES on these travels. We really could use some quality family time and more than anything, my hubs deserves a vacation.

Here are some of our upcoming trips!

California
This will be a little practice run for when we have to travel by plane with Miss fidgety....perk of a road trip - ability to pull over for a break whenever needed. We're going to be in the San Diego area visiting friends & stopping in Carlsbad on the way to see the flower field & to take some Mothers Day photos! miles & miles of flowers....yes please.

 New York
Last time we went back Sienna was only 5 months old! so excited for her to run around our childhood homes & be able to eat our moms cooking!
NY 2012

Hawaii
I don't think there is a day that passes that we don't talk about this place, once you've been...you'll know what I mean.

Now PLEASE give me your best traveling with a toddler tips!
Any specific things to bring on the plane besides massive amounts of snacks?

Life lately, all sorts of updates

You know its been crazy busy around here when I haven't had a chance to sit down at the computer for more than 5 minutes hence the lack of blogging lately, buts its Siennas nap time so here is a little brain scatter update of what's been going with us.

*The weather lately has been amazing,
we spent the last few weekends outside....playdate, park and pool galore

* Poor Miss S had the stomach flu recently. We panicked as it was the first time ever she wasn't feeling well. To make matters worse....hubs got it, then two days I did.
Luckily we didn't all get it at the same time - that would have been a nightmare.

It was so hard to see her this way knowing there was nothing I could do but let the virus run its course

*Hubs got a new job! so proud of him - it took balls to leave a comfortable job & take a risk at a new position but its an awesome company to be a part of - just different hours now that will take some getting used to for us both. This is how he spent his last day at the old job...haha

*we finally moved Sienna's crib out of our room and shes been sleeping better...and so are we! no more co-sleeping either.

*Is it possible for terrible twos to happen at 13 months? cuz I'm pretty sure I'm seeing a little preview. Yesterday she laid down on the floor in the middle of Trader Joes...screaming cuz I wouldn't let her hold a tub of yogurt...I hate giving into her little terrors but sometimes I do just for the sake of my sanity.

*We are on the market for an SUV, we both have sedans...one which is on its last hair. Anyone LOVE their SUV? what do you drive?

*We have a family photoshoot in 2 weeks and I've decided to sass up my look a bit and dye my hair for the FIRST time in my 26 years of life...nothing drastic, need Sienna to still recognize me ha but maybe a tad lighter brown and a new cut. Pintrest has been my BFF in getting ideas. I'm thinking its either the worst or best idea ever to get a new cut & color the day of a photoshoot...we'll see.

Stuff my kid loves: 12 Month edition

Here is a little list of things
Sienna is loving lately :)

This girl is such a picky eater that when I find something she loves its like hitting jackpot, I've made her waffles from scratch and they always ended up on the floor, so props to you Earths Best - she actually likes it.

we love this sippy cup!
I have it in her reach all day so she can have water whenever she pleases & I'm a big fan of aluminum over plastic

Avocado should be her middle name,
she eats half of one for breakfast and the other half for lunch or dinner

"Wacky ball" One of her current favorite toys
I LOVE anything by this brand!

Other favorite toy, she learned some words just from playing with it!
 "hello" "open" "close"

These flashcards are so cool, they even have textures of each object. Sienna loves to say the ones she knows and show me them.

Since shes so darn picky about food, we worry she doesn't get all her nutrients as her dinner of choice is puffs or a handful of blueberries, we started making her smoothies loaded with super nutritious things like kale, spinach, flaxseed, carrots, ect. She thinks shes getting a treat :) shhh

Just another day well spent

I love writing these days down as they happen.
Days I'll want to look back on.
Days I'll want to remember

Turning this blog into a book brings all sorts of happiness to my heart. I will forever have this, Sienna will have this forever and it will truly tell the story of our lives

So lets talk about today.

We woke up to the sound of the sweetest little voice on the monitor yell "daddddyy dadddy"
Its like she knew it was the weekend and requesting Daddy would surely mean he would be the one coming to getting her. He brought her into our bed and the three of us hung out, read  Sienna her books and goofed off until she started saying "nom nom" which meant she was ready for breakfast.

Now I'm usually particular about things like this but since the morning started off so well and I needed to wash the linens anyway...we let her have breakfast in our bed. Daddy made her a smoothie and waffles which she seemed to enjoy way more than she would have in her high chair - it was so worth the mess.

Since we were all getting over a stomach bug (thank god not all at the same time)
we wanted to venture out and get out of the house for a bit, so we went to an outdoor mall where Sienna got to run around and explore. She must have said "hiii" to every person we passed, she's such a ham.

We got some fro-yo and of course she had to dig in for a taste...to save ourselves from a scene, we let her. She was a fan...of course she was. I think its time to whip out the good old ice cream maker, nothing like homemade and the ability to control the ingredients.

Gonna make this girl some yummy sugarless, fruitty fro-yo & ice cream come summer time, as you can tell from the pictures below...she really approves :)

It was an "all about the little things" kinda weekend
 my favorite kind for sure.
